The terribly crushed body of Marvel Crosson, aged 25, one of the best known female pilots in America, was found alongside the wreckage of her plane. She had evidently jumped from a height of several hundred feet, but the parachute had failed to function. .Amongst the 18 other contestants four claimed that their ’planes had been tampered with during their overnight stay at San Bernuardino (California). The authorities are investigating.
