SUGAR CANE CULTIVATION. INTERESTING PROPOSALS. [ Australian Assn. I SYDNEY, Aug. 21. A message from Cairns states that cultivation of sugar cane on a large scale in Papua is contemplated by a syndicate of Cairns and New Guinea business men. who are arranging to acquire 20,000 aeries to supply a mid in the northern division of Papua The syndicate proposes to produce sugar to compete in the world’s market with the product of other dark labour countries.
