Guests at Foster’s Hotel include:— Messrs J. S. A vent, T. Taylour, S. Young, Souluors, B. Loveday, Jacobsen (Wellington), A. W. Heyes (London). The chairman of the Wanganui Education Board (Mr W. A. Collins) referred feelingly to the late Mr J. S. Reid at the Board meeting yesterday. He said that Mr Reid took a keen interest in anything pertaining to the welfare of children and his loss would be hard to replace. The meeting carried a vote of condolence to the widow and family.

Feeling reference was made by Dr. Skerman at the meeting of the Wanganui Hospital Board yesterday, to the loss sustained in the death of Mr A. G. Simpson. The speaker stated that he had known Mr Simpson since he was 15 years of age. He had also known his mother and father and grandmother and grandfather. They represented some of the best old Highland stock in the country, and Mr Simpson carried on the best traditions of the family. No board thought more of him than the Hospital Board. His good humour and unfailing courtesy to members made him a valuable asset. Appreciative references were also made by Mr T. H. Battle and Mr J. P. Aldridge. Out of respect to the lare Mr Simpson, the Board stood for a few moments in silence.
