RAETIHI STOCK SALE. Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co., Ltd., report as follows:—“At our usual fortnightly stock sale, held at Raetihi on 19th inst., we offered a very fair yarding of 1400 sheep besides several pens of cattle. Sheep were in good demand, especially good sound mouth and young ewes in lamb, which maintained rates ruling about thre.e weeks ago. Good lambs were also in keen demand. Altogether we report a very satisfactory sale. We report: — Mixed aged ewes, B.R. Romney rams. 36s 8d; small ditto, 30s; s.m. do., 32s 3d; aged, 25s 3d, 24s 6d, to 28s; ewes. 15s; good 4 and 5-year ewes running with Southdowns, 355; cull do., 235; good ewe lambs 34s lOd; b.f. do., 22s Id; good wether lambs 26s 2d; medium do. 21s 7d to 23s 3d; smaller, 17s to 20s; culls, 14s; mixed sex lambs 22s to 27s 2d; good m.a. wethers, 31s; weaner dairy heifers, £2 13s to £3 ss; cows in calf, £4 12s 6d to £7. A herd of dairy cows on account of Mr G. Edwards averaged £7 5s per head. VALUES AT TAIHAPE. The New Zealand Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Co., Ltd., report: —“At the Taihape yards on Wednesday we had a good yarding of sheep but only a few cattle. The whole yarding of sheep was sold with the exception of one pen of 200 ewes. Ewes being rather dull but held firm with recent sales. We quote: Two-toothe ewes r.w. Romney rams, 34s to 365; sound mouth ewes 26s to 28s 6d; ewe hoggets were keenly compered for, making up to 30s. Small ewe hoggets, 21s to 25s 3d; wether hoggets, medium, 21s, 22s 6d to 23s 3d. A small entry of fat cattle which sold under keen competition, fat bullocks on account J. Bartosh, Esq., making £l4 and fat heifers on account Brown Estate £lO 17s 6d. SUCCESSFUL CLEARING SALE. The New Zealand Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Co., Ltd., report having a most successful clearing sale, of dairy stock on account D. McKay, Esq., Mataroa, buyers being present from Pahiatua, Tokomaru, Palmerston North, Feilding and Marton. The whole herd sold under keen competition, Jersey cross making £lO 10s, £ll, £l2 10s, £l3, £l3 ss, £l4 to £l6. The SUbrthorns averaged £l2 Is; heifers £8 12s to £lO 10s.
