IV'OTICE is hereby given that it is intended to present to The General Assembly of New Zealand at the present sittings thereof a Bill to be entituled The Wanganui Harbour District and Empowering Amendment Act 1929. The objects which the Bill is intended to effect are:— 1. To authorise the Wanganui Harbour Board to borrow a sum or sums of money not exceeding £200,000 to be applied for general purposes of Harbour improvement as set out in Section 5 of The Wanganui Harbour District and Empowering Act 1913 and for the purposes following:— (a) The raising and extension of the existing North and South moles at the entrance to the Wanganui Harbour in accordance v/ith the plan deposited with the Marino Department and Numbered M.D. 4294. (b) Tho purchase of a new dredge. (c) The meeting of a claim by The British Admiralty for bringing out the Dredge “Kaionc” from England to New Zealand. (d) The cost and expenses incurred in connection with the borrowing of -such moneys including the cost of preparing the Special Roll and of taking the poll of the ratepayers. (e) The first year’s interest and sinking fund. (f) The cost of promoting the said Act. 2. To provide that out of any moneys borrowed under the powers conferred by such Bill the Board may repay to any account any sum or sums advanced therefrom or any portion thereof and applied after the passing of such Bill but prior to the raising of such moneys to the purposes for which such moneys are authorised to be borrowed. 3. To provide that on tho taking of a poll of ratepayers in Tho Wanganui Harbour District for the purpose of raising such loan the provisions set out in Sections 3,4, 5 and Sub-section (1) of Section 6 of the Wanganui Harbour District and Empowering Amendment Act 1923 relative to the preparation of a special roll and to the taking of a poll and the application of the provisions of The Wanganui Harbour District and Empowering Act 1913 shall apply for the purposes of the intended Bill as if the same had been set out in full therein. 4. To provide that the provisions of The Wanganui Harbour District and Empowering Act 1913 as from time to time amended shall apply with respect to all moneys borrowed under the authority of this proposed amending Bill. A copy of the said Bill together with a statement of the financial position of the Board as at the 30th day of September 1928 a statement showing the revenue of the Board from 1910 to 1928 and the estimated increase of revenue to be derived from the proposed works and an estimate of the cost of the proposed works are deposited in' the Magistrate’s Court at Wanganui and are open at that place for public inspection.
