AIKEN—ENGLEFIELD

On Tuesday evening at the Congregational Church, Alay Melville, daughter of Air and Mrs S. M. Englefield, of Palmerston North, was married to William, son of Airs A. A. Aiken, of Wanganui. The church had been beautifully decorated by the bride’s fellow choir members and formed a fitting background for the charming picture she •.made as she came up the aisle on her father’s arm. Her dainty wedding gown was »of exquisite ecru lace over salmon pink, made with a cape effect, the lace falling in points, and long sleeves. A satin ribbon bow in front supplied a dainty finishing note. Pink toned asters and roses interspersed with ferns and streamers formed her bouquet, while her veil of palest pink was caught to her head with a pearl coronet and sprays of orange blossom. Two bridesm ids were in attendance —Alisses Kathleen and Evelyn Englefield. sisters of the bride. Their lovely frocks were made alike, one of vieux rose and the other of apricot crepe-de-chine. Little frills were placed round the scalloped hems, and diamante buck k. at the left side were charming touches. One bridesmaid carried a bouquet of blue hydrangeas and delphiniums, and the other roses and small dahlias, with ferns and streamera.

Air Keith Aiken, the bridegroom’s brother, was best man and Air Fxiii Stairs, of Palmerston North, was groomsman. After the wedding ceremony, which was performed by the Rev. Air Bycroft, a reception was hold at the Cameo tearooms, where over 50 guests were received. Airs Englcfield, the. bride’s mother, wore a gown of beige georgette and lace with a posy effect on the left shoulder, her hat being a picture model in toning shades. She carried a bouquet of red asters. Mrs Aiken, mother of the bridegroom, was gowned in grey with a hat to tone and carried mauve asters. Alany telegrams of congratulation and very many beautiful presents were received by the happy couple who left later for the north on their wedding trip. The bride’s travelling suit was an ensemble in deep cinnamon trimmed with three shades in varying tones of cinnamon, while her hat was a model felt to match.

LATHAAI—EGGERS

A wedding of interest took place at Upper Aloutcre, Nelson, on Tuesday last, when Esther Clara Eggers, youngest daughter of the late Air J. Eggers, and Airs Eggers, Upper Aloutcre, was married to Percy He wart Latham, youngest son of Air and Airs R. Latham, of Ashhurst, and late of Bolton, England, the bridegroom being cousin to the Lord Chief Justice of England, Lord Hewart of Bury. The bride’s dainty frock was of crepe de chine, trimmed with silver lace and pearls. Alany friends attended the ceremony, and after the reception the bride and bridegroom left for a motor tour of the North Island, the bride’s travelling costume being navy blue, with a hat to match, and a fox fur, the gift of the bridegroom. Their future home will, be at Ashhurst.

SNOW—LEONARD

A wedding that attracted considerable attention was solemnised at Christ Church on Wednesday evening, April 10, when Iris, second daughter of Air and Airs 8. J. Leonard, of Niblett Street, was married to Allen, youngest son of Airs C. Snow, of Wanganui. The Rev. Archdeacon Creed Aleredith officiated, and Air Slater presided at the organ. The church was tastefully decorated by friends of the bride with belladonna lilies and michaelmas daisies. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a frock of white georgette over satin. Her veil, which was handsomely embroidered was arranged in a coronet and caught by a wreath of orange blossom. and she carried a beautiful bouquet of white flowers. She was attended by her two sisters as bridesmaids, Miss Queenie Leonard (chief) wearing an apricot georgette frock, trimmed with beautiful lace, and Aliss Audrey Leonard, in “Princess Betty,” blue crepe de chine frock. Both wore hats to tone and carried bouquets of apricot flowers. The bridegroom was attended by Air L? Smith as best man, and Air C. Leonard, as groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Victoria League rooms, which were beautifully decorated with autumn-tinted flowers, Mrs Leonard, received her guests in a bois de rose crepo de chine frock with hat to tone, and Airs Snow, mother of the bridegroom. wore black bengaline and black hat. Later in the evening the happy couple left by car for a wedding tour, the bride travelling in a beige frock coat and hat and fox fur. The guests then enjoyed dancing and games until the small hours of the morning. Among the guests were: Mr and Mrs Cooke, Mr and Airs Bowes, Air and Airs Bead, Mr and Mrs Gleeson, Mr and Mrs Taylor, Mr and Mrs Treeby, Mesdames Leonard (Wellington), Gilbertson (Lower Hutt), Wishart (Chatham Islands), Dalziell, Coughlin.
