MISS PHYLLIS BATES’ ACHIEVEMENT

Aliss Phyllis Bates, of Wellington, who is now on her way back to New Zealand after a trip to the Old Country, has, during her stay in London, completed the required examinations, and been admitted to membership in the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. The Imperial Society, which includes the leading teachers of all branches of dancing—operatic, Greek, ballroom, and general—conducts regular examinations, and requires that its members shall possess a definite standard of knowledge and teaching ability. Miss Bates is the first Australian or New Zealand teacher of ballroom dancing to achieve this distinction.
