Mrs Ballance, Wicksteed Street, leaves to-day on a motor tour to Helcnsville, where she will spend a holiday. Miss Stedman and Miss Finch, of Marton, are spending a few days in New Plymouth. Mrs Nelson, of Mount Eden, Auckland, is visiting "Wanganui. Miss Molly Wood, of Marton, who has for some time past been on the staff of the Pahiatua Hospital, has cturned to Masterton to continue her training. Lady Jellico.e is a skating enthusiast and spends much of her time on the rink, but her three daughters, although they occasionally accompany their mother, prefer ski-ing. Miss Margaret Hatherly, of ‘Wanganui, who is at present visiting relativ.es in South Africa, has been awarded a special prize and bronze medal for her exhibits in the Arts and Crafts sect Ln of the Rand Show at Johannesburg. Mrs Sydney Johnston, Takapau, is visiting Wanganui. Miss Avis Pauli, Gonville, is spending a holiday in Wellington. Miss Rose, matron of the Stewart Karitane Home, is spending her leave in the South Island. Miss M. Harvey returned to Auckland on Monday from a visit to Wai? ganui. Mrs F. Blundell, Wharenui, has returned to Wanganui from Te Awamutu, where she was the guest of Mrs Lac.ey Peake. Miss Burgess leaves to-day for iHelensville where she will spend a holiday. The Misses N. Cowper, M. McDonald, H. Franklin and B. Montgomerie have returned from a brief visit to Mrs W. J. Polson, Stratford. Mr and Airs Balncris, Wellington, are the guests of Major and Airs Turner, Tokomaru. Airs T. E. Platt, of Pukekahu, will leave to-day for a trip to England. Airs J. Davis and Airs Reardon left on Sunday for a week’s holiday in New Plymouth. Miss Alison Good, of Hawera, spent the week-end in Wanganui as the guest of Aliss Harrison, Wicksteed Street. Judge Aiteheson, of the Native Land Court, Auckland, and Aliss Aiteheson, arc guests at Braeburn Hotel. The Gonvine Croquet Club held a gala day recently to mark the end of the playing season. At the conclusion of a most successful day Mr R. Astbury presented the club’s trophies for the season. They were as follows: Handicap doubles: Mesdames Wallace and Gilbert; A Yankee: Mrs Wallace; B Yankee: Airs J. Brass; C Yankee: Airs A. Body. The gala day competitions were won by Alesdaines R. Cuthbertson, J. Jarvie, W. Langton, J. Brass and Tin gey.
