MAORIS ATTACKED
OUTBREAK OF DYSENTERY MORE CASES REPORTED [ Per Press Association. ] GISBORNE, April 16. The Inspector of Health, Air Holder has been notified of an outbreak of dysentery amongst the Maoris in tlie Waipu district, as a result, it is believed, of the disease being brought from Ngaruawahia, where a recent big hui was held. The first victim was Makarini Ngata, son of Sir Apirana Ngata, who succumbed Just week. Two other cases now reported in the district arc stated to be of a similar nature, one of the patients being Lady Ngata, who worn out by the terrible trial of nursing her late son to the end, also became afflicted and now lies at her home at Waiomatataini in a critical state.
