P. Collins at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. On March 9.’ stated Vernon Wahlstrom, tram conductor, he was engaged in shunting trams in Ridgway Street. He saw the defendant’s car swing into Ridgway Street and take a sharp turn to the left. It missed a trailer and then hit the back of a stationary motor car near the fish shop. Mr Bain, who appeared for the defendant, stated that the incident was purely an accident. He protested strongly against the trams being left in such a busy street as Ridgway Street and it was this fact which, he

said, contributed, to the accident. The defendant stated that she approaelied the intersection at about 1C miles an hour There were cars parked in St. Hill Street. As she came up, th< tram-cars, which had been stationary commenced to move, and she. swerved to the right to get out of the way, but, not having enough room, she ran into a parked car. After hearing the case the Magistrate decided that there was no proof of negligence on the part of the defendant and accordingly dismissed the case.
