DEMANDS ON GERMANY REPARATIONS PROPOSALS The proposals of the Repara- H felons Committee of experts now in Pans, are finding a hostile reception in Germany, where they are summed, up as “a policy of plunder.” It is said that the American delegates are also shocked at the vastness of the Allies’ demands. The Berlin correspondent of the Daily Express says: “‘A policy of plunder’ is the phrase summing up Germany’s reception of the reparation .experts’ proposals. Newspapers throughout the country are voicing a roar of indignation, and most papers and reports from Paris suggest that the American delegates arc as much shocked as the Germans at thp. vastness of the Allied demands. “The Deutsche Allemeinc Zeitung says that the demands will be a death blow to the conference. In the whole memorandum there is no evid nee that the burdens imposed upon Germany can be borne.” THE ALLIES’ DEMANDS PROPHECIES MADE [ Australian Press Assn. 1 PARIS, April 14. Th e Allied experts’ demands presented at the plenary session of tho Reparations Committee will not be decided until Monday when the details will be published. • The average prophecies concerning the Allies’ memorandum appear to indicate that the initial minimum of Germany’s annual payments will be £39,500,000. Half is to be devoted to reparations and half war debts. Later, when th e maximum is reached, two thirds will go to debts and the balance to reparations, upon the extinction of which at the maximum year there will continue yearly debts payments of £83,000,000* till discharged.* Le Matin asserts that the reparations are not acceptable, and the Germans intend asking for time to consider the document carefully.
