“Home, James!” ushered in on a flood of laughter the Universal-Pan-tages tie-up which provides that Western circuit with 100 per cent, representation in its theatres in Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, Tacoma, Salt Lake City and Fresno. Carl Laemmle’s blonde comedienne took both the Los Angeles and San Francisco critics completely by storm in her latest comedy, “Home, James!” written by the well-known Gladys Johnson and directed by William Bcaudine. Laura’s rollicking humour won a response with Pantages patronage that bids fair for the popularity of Universal’s complete booking in that circuit, one of the biggest in the United States. The excerpts below arc almost unanimous in giving part of the praise to Charles Delaney, Laura’s supporting comedian. Charles Klein, he new Fox Films director who has just finished editing “Blindfolded,” must have made a success of his first feature effort for the Fox editorial is on the qui vive for another story for him.
