The English tennis players fared badly in the quarter-finals of the Victorian championships, Gregory being the only player not eliminated. Hopman beat the English champion, Austin, 6—o, 2—6, 6 —4, while Collins and Higgs were defeated by Schlesinger and Crawford respectively. Gregory beat Willard in straight sets. The Englishmen lost all the doubles matches.
