FIREWORKS AND GUY COMPETITION
Wanganui’s boys will hail with pleasure to-day’s announcement that the annual Guy Fawkes competition and fireworks display is to be field in Cook’s Gardens next Monday, under the auspices of the Queen Alexandra Wand. As in past years, liberal prizes are to be awarded for the three best effigies of the late Air Fawkes. Tho usual parade of guys will be ncld, all boys and their .exhibits meeting at the Drill Hall and marching to Cook’s Gardens, where tho judging will be carried out. Then will follow a large display of fireworks supplied and fired by the Waioni Fireworks Company to the order of the Queen Alexandra Band. This will be. the largest display yet fired in Wanganui, and will serve to introduce a new series of pyroteebnieal novelties and several of the old favourites. It is intended to include a small number of juvenile sports events as a preliminary feature to the programme, and these will be announced later.
