HURLEY'S FLIGHT
STRONG HEAD WINDS AIRMEN CHANGE THEIR PLANS 1 Australian Pres* Assn. I Received Nov. 9.20 p.m. SYDNEY, Nov. 1. Captain Hurley, who is on his way to England, left Oodnadatta at 5.30 o’clock this morning (South Australian time) with the intention of reaching Wyndham to-night. The monoplane passed over Alice Springs (Central Australia) at nine o’clock. (Sydney time) when it had nearly .1000 miles to cover.
A later message stated that strong head winds would probably cause a stoppage for the night at Daly Waters. Captain Hurley states he is weary of the sight of the desert, with its heat and drought and desolate stock runs. He and his companions wore cordially received nt Oodnadatta by whites, Afghans, aboriginals, goats and dogs. Captain Hurley’s bowler hat created morn fun among the Afghans and the abo’s than did the monoplane. The distance from Sydney to Wyndham is 2115 miles.
