Oct. 31. “L refuse to regard Britain as part of Europe,” declined Lord Melchett, who has* returned from America, when interviewed regarding the United {States industrial and political policy in rotation to Europe. “Britain is the centre of a great Empire with a greater area, population, and natural resources than any other possible economic unit in the world.” He believed in an amalgamation of British iiidu.-tiies, and nationalisation of Empire industries, meaning thereby the scientific organisation of industry, balancing production to consumption. He was convinced that Britain had turned the corner, adding: “While the old supremacy lias not yet been completely recovered, we have already achieved definite nupremacy.”
