SMITHFIELD PRICES. The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board has received the following cable from its London office, dated October 26, 1928, advising Smith field delivered prices averaged for week ending that date as follows: — N.Z. wethers and maidens: Canterbury quality, selected brands, 561bs and under, 7d; 57 to 641bs, 7d; 65 to 721b5., 6 5-Bd. Other brands, 561bs and under, 6 7-8 d; 57 to 641b5., 6Jd; 65 to 721b5., 64d. N.Z. ewes, 641bs and under, 4 7-Sd. N.Z. lambs: Canterbury quality, 3Glbs and under, 10-}d; 37 to 10|d; 43 to 501b5.. 9LI; seconds, 9d. Selected brands, 361bs. and under, lOd; 37 to 421b5., JOd. Other brands, first quality, 361bs and under, 9 5-8 d; 37 to 421b5., 9 5-8 d; second quality, 30 to 321bs. average, 9d. N.Z. beef: Ox fores, 4d; ox hinds,
sd; cow fores, 3Jd; cow hinds, 4Jd. Argentine chilled beef: Ox fores. 4|<l; ox hinds, 6-Jd.
Frozen pork: Porkers, 60 to SOlbs., 7id; porkers, 81 to 99Ibs, 7Jd; porkers, 100 to 1201b5., 7Jd. Baconers, 121 to 1801bs., 7-}d. Lamb: Market is depressed owing to heavy supplies home killed and muggy weather. Mutton: Market is slow. Beef: Market weak owing to large stocks Australian.
N.Z. porker pigs: Unsuitable weather limiting demand, also owing to heavy pitchings of home killed.
