NEW DEVICES
WORK IN THE KITCHEN [ Australian Press Assn. ] LONDON, Oct. 10. The host of new devices at the annual inventions exhibition appears to be making the housewives’ lot much easier. Sir Herbert Morgan, at the opening, said that he feared that womenkind would eventually lose their natural skill, and become mere automatons. The novelties include a wire attachment on a kettle lid which turns off the gas when the kettle boils, a device which seals pie crust ana pi c vents the juice escaping, an ever-sharp bread knife which makes no crumbs, and a teapot on the thermos principle, folding telescope umbrella, which it is able to be accommodated in a lady’s handbag, a telephone attachment which it is claimed, in event of the subscriber’s absence, records the calling number and records, the message.
