“RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION”
SIR A. CONAN DOYLE CALLS ON SPIRITUALISTS r Australian Press Assn. ] LONDON, Oct. 10. Sir A. Conan Doyle calls on the quarter of a million Spiritualists in England to fight politically for freedom. The law of England has denied the Spiritualists the right to use mediums. It was religious persecution. If the Conservatives were not willing to help, the choice would lie between Liberals and Labour. “We are not going to be despised. Black materialism surrounds us. We must break through. We represent the young hope of the world among all the decaying forms of religion with which we are surrounded. Everybody who thinks of the 7,000,000 war dead in Europe alone must, think also that the war came after 1900 years of Christianity. If it is urged that I am mixing religion and politics, what does it matter? Doesn’t the Church of England and don’t the Noncomformists? ’ ’ Sir Conan Doyle and Lady Doyle have sailed for South Africa.
