EMPIRE ADVERTISING

DEPARTMENTAL INVESTIGATIONS £ Special ‘ Chronicle’ Service. ’ WELLINGTON, Oct. 11. Investigations are now being conducted by the Department of industries and Commerce into the advisability of conducting an Empire advertising campaign for the purpose of stimulating the demand for Empi.e products in Great Britain. Various organisations have urged this course upon the Government and the latest suggestion is that the cost should be met by each Dominion contributing to a gereral fund. The work will be supplementary to that of the Empire Marketing Board which is engaged in fostering trade within the Empire, but its relation to the publicity work of the various Dominions which is at present carried out in the Mother Country has yet to be considered.

The current Dominion campaigns arc aimed at boosting the products of the particular portion of the Empire concerned. Another aspect of the situation which is re eiving attention is the publicity work of the various New Zealand produce control boards. The difficulties created ..n many districts of the United Kingdom arise from constant use for many years of produce from neighbouring Continental countries. It is hoped that a plan can be evolved which will pave the way towards a fuller acceptance of Empire Products and which will load to a final breaking down of the barriers erected against the “All Red” goods imported to the Motherland.
