REAR REFLECTORS

A number of motorists who purchased red rear reflectors when the regulations came into force a few months ago have been persuaded to buy a second one in the belief that the original purchase did not meet with the approval of the Public Works Department. There are several reflectors on the market for which exclusive approval has been claimed, but the motorist who has already fitted some type would be well advised to be satisfied until there is some definite indication that certain types are to be condemned by the authorities. At present neither the police nor local bodies arc attempting to draw distinctions between the various reflectors which have been fitted. The North: Island Motor Union still hopes to persuade the Public Works Department to withdraw the regulation so that those motorists who have cheap and possibly ineffective reflectors may yet escape further expense.
