OVER FIFTY MILES N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP WON BY CHRISTENSEN [ Per Press Association. I WELLINGTON, Sept. 16. The New Zealand 50 mile cycle championship was he d yester.day from Wellington to Mungaroa Hill a nd back. A bad; patch in the Tait a Gorge caused several of the riders to fall on the way out. On the home run. the 12 minute men made the pace. Coining through the Taitu Gorge Grose fell in the bad patch of road. Lukey sustainciJ, a break on his comarkers and caught up with Whitten, the Auckland rijer, who. off two minutes, had ridj l.cn except ionally well. Passing Thorndon Station Wright an.d Christensen dropped Moorhouse, who had been with them up to this stage. At the finish Christensen led Wright home, gaining the decision by a length. A little after these two had finished Moorhouse came in, closely followed by Whitten, Webber, Toomcr, Lukey and Grose. Detailed results arc as follow: F. Christensen (12min) 1, 8. Wright (.12 min.) 2, L. Moorchouse (12min) 3. J. Whitten. (Auckland) (Sniin) 4, H. 8. Webber (6min) 5. Fastest time was put up by L. G. Lukey (scr). 2hr. Smin. 26sec. and l second fastest time by F. J. Grose (scr) 2hr. Smin. 52Jscc. The Mayoress decorated L. G. Lukey with the fastest time sash and presented the othar successful competitors with the trophies which they had won.
