TO REMAIN IN MARINES A JjEVEL lIEADED young man Corporal Lloyd E. Nelson. the “millionaire kid” of the United States Marine Corps, recently sailed from Shanghai for America to take over the affairs of the million-dollar estate he has just inherited. Corporal Nelson has no intention, however, of seeking a .discharge from the crack service organisation of America. This tall, blue-eyed, good-looking young marine, who has come into the fortune left by his father to accumulate until the boy reached 25, likes the Marine Corps, and wants the world to know it. “Quit the service? I should say not,” Corporal Nelson declared to a British United Press representative. “I have 17 months to go before my term of enlistment expire.-. an-1 1 am going to be in the service until the last day. 1 might even re-enlist.” Corporal Nelson’s father was head of the department store of Frederick and Nelson, of Seattle. He died, in 1907. By reason of his fortune Corporal Nelson becomes easily the richest member of the Marine Corps anti is probably the world’s wealthiest enlisted service man. “What are you going to do with all this money?” he was asked. “Are you going to Paris. London. or Monte Carlo?” “Not at all,” was the reply. “I am returning to America to settle the legal business, and after that I will continue my serviee. When I have been discharged I will begin to think about a business career, or possibly re-enlist.” Corporal Nelson plays the clarinet, the saxophone, and the violin, and declared by his comrades to be a “real artist” on all three instruments.
