GENERAL NEWS [ Special "Chronicle” Service ] A few friends of Mr and Mrs R. C. Hamilton, of Pukcatua Road, gave them a surprise party last week, when a jolly musical evening was spent. Mr A. M. Land met with a very painful accident last Saturday which necessitated medical treatment. While doctoring sheeps’ feet with butter of antimony, the sheep kicked, and Mr Land unfortunately got some of the fixture in his eyes. There have been several sudden, sharp shocks of earthquake felt here lately. Influenza is very prevalent in the district. Mr Skey, vicar of Taumarunui, held a service in the Kaitieke Hall last Sunday. Mrs" N. Tyernian, of Kawatahi Valley, and her two sons, have returned home from Melbourne. Mr Tyerman went to Wellington to meet them. Mr C. C. Morgan, district land valuer, has returned from To Kuiti. Mr Storey, of Ashhurst, is visiting |his niece, Mrs T. McFadyen, junr. Mr James Dempsey is visiting the Waharapa and Hawke’s Bay districts. Mr Alex McColl has been spending a few days in Wellington.
