A VALUABLE SCHOLARSHIP MEW ZEALANDER TO STUDY IN ENGLAND. t Per Pres. 1 AUCKLAND, June 26. The 1»51 Scholar-hip, one of the highest honours that can be gained by students of science in New Zealand, has been awarded this year to Mr \V. A. Macky, assistant to Professor Burbr.dge, of the Physics Department of the Auckland University College. The first choice made by the Board of Examiners in England was Mr J. <?. Andrews, of Auckland., but owing to private reasons he was unable to accept the scholarship, the next selection being Mr Macky. Under the terms of the scholarship the winner can carry on scientific research in any recognised institution in the world. It is tenable for two years, and it is valued at £250 a year. Mr Macky intends to proceed to England in a month or two, and will enter Caius College. Cambridge, where he will study in the Cavendish Laboratory under the famous New Zealander.
