Tunnoy states: “Heeney, a rugged puncher, younger and in better condition than Dempsey, will be a more formidable opponent than the latter. I do not believe Heeney can punch as hard as Dempsey, but in a fifteenround bout in which the shifting crown might depend on the decision, Heeney certainly is a more dangerous opponent than Dempsey might be.” Tunney ridiculed the ioda of making him a four to one favourite over Heeney. “Any man who works himself to the position of the foremost challenger cannot be rated a one to four opponent.”
