There Was a good attendance at the euchre party in aid of the Parewanui School os Friday evening . The prizes were awarded to Mr Teko and. Master Yardley, whilst consolations Were won by Mr J- W. Lind and Mrs Morgan. The fortnightly dance conducted by the Ohakea Miniature Rifle Club will take place in the OhakOa Hall to-night. On Friday evening the Ohakea Miniature Rifle Club will shoot against Awahuri on the Ohakea range for the Cliffe Remington and M.M.R.A. Cup competitions. The Bulls Club will shoot against R.S.A., at Palmerston, to-mor-row (Wednesday) evening for the same trophies. Mr L. Huddlestone, of Bra.uon Hall Road, left on Saturday fbr a pig-hunt-ing expedition at Raumai, in the Pohahgiha Valley. Miss May Kearney left on Friday night to spend her holidays in Hamilton. WEDDING. MEADS—WIGHTMAN. A very pretty wedding was solemnised in the Presbyterian Church, Palmerston North, on Wednesday, May 23, when Mary, the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs John Wightman, of Bulls, was united in the bonds of matrimony to Hubert, second son of Mr and Mrs William Meads, of Bulls. The Rev. Brown was the officiating Minister. The bride entered the church on her father’s arm, attired in shell piiik crepe de chine, with cream, lace. Her tulle veil was crowned with a coronet Of orange blossoms and she carried a bouquet of pink and white carnations, intermingled with maidenhair fern. She was attended by her sister, Renee, and her cousin, Rita Ellery, who wore green crepe de chine and lace, and mauve crepe de chine, respectively. They carried posies of pink, mauve and green. The gloom’s gifts to the bridesmaids were gold armlets. The groom was attended by Mr D. Clode, of Bulls, and Mr Moore, of Christchurch, acted in the capacity of best man. The reception took place in the Carlton Lounge, Palmerston North, where a number of guests were entertained. The liappy couple Were made the recipients of many presents. The bride and bridegroom left, amid showers of confetti, for a tour of the South Island, the bride’s travelling dress being a navy costume, with a fox necklet and a beige felt hat. THE PICTURES. Skeets Gallagher, well known bn the vaudeville stage for years and recently the star of such musical comedies as “No, No Nanette” and “Lucky,” makes a bid for recognition in pictures in the cast of “For the Love of Mike,” the comedy showing on Saturday night at the Bulls Town Hall. Gallagher plays the role of the coxswain of the Yale crew, of which Ben Lyon is made captain and stroke. Ford sterling, Hugh Cameron, George Sidney and Claudette Colbert, featured on Broadway this season in “The Barker” are in the siippqrtihg cast.
