UNEMPLOYMENT

LADIES’ COMMITTEE PADDY’S MARKET SUGGESTED At a meeting of the ladies’ committee of the unemployment organisation yesterday another step towards obtaining relief funds was taken. Mrs Siidr dells presided. Letters were received from various organisations, all expressing willingness to help as individuals even if they were unable to do so as organisations. Several of the societies had not met since the last ladies’ unemployment organisation had conferred and it was deciicted that the representatives of the societies report to the ladies’ committee at their meeting on July 5. In the meantime it was resolved that collecting be continued and that the Rev. E. T. Cox be approached with a view to enlisting his services for organisation work. A show of hands on the question of the duration of the Paddy’s Market, decided that it should be -held for on day—July 13 —and again on the following day if the amount of material collected rendered it necessary. The Tuesday before the week will be devoted to the collection of clothes, produce and, any other saleable goods. Wednesday and Thursday will be taken up in sorting the jumble. The meeting agreed that the. district system of canvassing was preferable to the general drive. Final arrangements will bo made at the next ineotinp’ when fuller information will bo available.
