REV. JOHN PATERSON CONSENT TO COMMITTEE’S REQUEST. When the Rev. John Paterson, M.A., ws asked by a committee of school board member's to stand for those favouring the re-introduction of Bible-reading in schools as a candidate for a seat on the Education Bard of Wanganui, he gave hig consent. The committee was appointed at a meeting at St. Paul's Instiute last night in connection withe the question. Those present were practically unanimous in favour of the re-introduction, but representatives of those opposing the suggestion were present. Airs Paterson has had a wide experience on school bards in Australia and Now Zealand. “We are satisfied that Air Paterson will fittingly represent what we believe can bring nothing but benefit to children—namely, the reintroduction of Bible-reading,” a supporter of the suggestion told the “Chronicle” last n i gh t.
