MATCH AGAINST THE REST A BRIGHTER DISPLAY Basing his judgment upon the play in the two previous spells the selector, Mr J. Crowley, chose a Probahles team to try conclusions with The Rest, the side lining out as follows: Borroman (W) Wakeling (W) Hartley (R) Ball (W) McLennan (T) Vangioni (W) Johnson (R) Bellis (T) Pine (T) Coulston (W) hookers Johnston (W) Sinclair (T) Ross (W) Ellery (R) Cutclli (W) This game provided better fare for the spectators, the quick-moving Rangitikei half-back giving his backs plenty to do, sometimes when they least expected it. The Rest drew first blood as the result of an elusive run by Duncan. Reaching Borroman the Wanganui half passed to Murray who scored as he was tackled by McLennan. Thompson’s kick failed.—The Rest 3, Probables 0. A stern tussle took place close to the goal with The Rest defending hard. Coulston, Johnston and D. Ross made successive dives but they were kept out. The ball finally came out to Vangioni who again distinguished himself with a tricky run and passed to Ball who scored. Borroman could not goal and the game ended with, honours even, three all. Mr T. Richardson was referee. MARIST JUNIORS DEFEAT KATANA The Marist juniors on a muddy ground defeated Ratana juniors on Saturday by 18 points to 12. The game was one arranged by the clubs themselves and was played in a friendly spirit.
