THOUSANDS OF SERMONS

WELSH MINISTER’S RECORD The Rev. Hugh Hughes, of Pwllheli, the Welsh revivalist who recently celebrated his eighty-sixth birthday, has decided to give up preaching. Mr Hughes, who has spoken in almost every town and village in Wales and in the principal towns in England has preached three times every Sunday and once on almost every week night for sixty-five years without a break. He entered the Wesleyan ministry when nineteen years of ago. He was the second Moderator of the Welsh Wesleyan Assembly’ - , and figured prominently in three great religious revivals in Wales. He still enjoys splendid health, but ns he is a very vigorous preacher, his usual energy fails when preaching. It is estimated that Mr Hughes has preached over 23,000 sermons, which number constitutes a record in the history of any preacher.
