THE WENDY HUT

OUR CHILDRENS CORNER

My Dear Children, Another week has passed by, and soon the holidays will be over. I hope that everyone of you have enjoyed every minute of your holidays, for in a short time the school bells will be ringing, calling you back to your desks and your studies. Quite a few of my Wendyites have remarked upon the swift passage of time. Time has indeed a pair of wings. It does not mark time for any of us, and so when you resume your places at your desks, I want you all to register a vow that you will endeavour to eclipse the wonderful percentage of high marks made during the recent examinations. Just show everyone, my dears, what my happy bands of Wendyites can do. I have to touch upon a matter that gives me not a little pain. Recent!}' a poem was sent in by one of my young readers, being ’narked original. My attention has been drawn to the same piece of poetry having appeared m a certain journal. I know that there is no connection between the two authors, and as you are all in honour bound to have only your own compositions marked “original” you will see that Ido not feel very happy about the disclosure. I am sure that I will not have to refer to this mattei again, my dears. Many of my Wendyites who have recently been ill, now report that they are quite well again, and this takes a great load off my mind. I cannot help but worry over you all, and wonder sometimes if there is some one of you who is ill and I do not know of it. This week, Chiquita, of Marton, has sent me a beautiful little posy, for which I must thank her very much. Well, my dears, I must close now or I shall be taking up too much space. There is a big mail this week, and lam anxious to get it all in. With heaps and heaps of love to vou all from— WENDY.
