STABBED
INDIAN OFFICIAL’S DEATH AN ENRAGED NATIVE (A. & N.Z.) RELHI, April 20. A European, Mr Davies, district Magistrate and collector at Chittagong, was fatally stabbed in his bungalow by a Mohammedan, Rahaman, whom Davies had refused to grant a passport and money to visit England. The assailant, in a sudden fit of rage jumped on to Mr Davies and stabbed him to the heart. He died immediately. The man then rushed from the bungalow, chased by a servant whom he attempted to stab. He was finally caught by Mr Davies’ clerks.
Rahaman was a member of a prominent family in Chittagong. The crime has caused a sensation as Mr Davies was a popular official. He leaves a widow and two sons.
