DOMINION WHEAT
MILLERS’ OFFER. 2 Ptr Press Association. ] CHRISTCHURCH, April 20. A general meeting of the North and •South Island flourmillers was held yesterday to discuss the wheat position for 1929 and the following resolution was carried:— “That in order to support the efforts of the Government by a sliding scale of duty to secure to growers a payable price for wheat, it is resolved that this conference of millers now offers to make forward contracts with growers for good milling wheat for the 3928-29 harvest for at least 25 per cent, of each miller’s next year ’s requirements (estimated at about 2,000,000 bushels) from districts suitable to each mill at the following prices net f.0.b., sacks’extra: Tuscan 5s lid; Hunters 6s 2d; velvet 6s Bd. The making of contracts is left for individual farmers to make with the merchant or miller direct.”
