PANIC REIGNS
BULGARIAN EARTHQUAKES FIERCE STORM RAGES (A. & N.Z.) SOFIA. April 19. Not only the capital, but the whole of the country is in a state of panic due to the earthquakes. There were indescribable scenes ii Sofia when audiences ru-hed from thi theatres and cinemas. The whole popu iace spent the night in the streets. The earthquake which was worst a: Philippopolis was accompanied by t fearful storm and torrential rain. Tin electric light failed, intensifying the lightning. There were thirty shocks throughout the night and many fires. Dozens of buildings collap«e«|. Th« night’s casualties totalled 15 killed ,in< 159 injured. It is reported that the Mn of Pa pazli was wiped out.
