EXCITEMENT IN BRITAIN FUNDS EOR BATING RELIEF SCHEME Received April 21, .12.15 a.in. (A * N.Z.) LONDON, April 20. Excitement prevails in motoring circles owing to a report that Mr Winston Churchill intend® to impose a duty of 6d a gallon on petrol, leaving the present tax of £1 a horse-power unchanged. Motorists have been hoping that the power tax would be reduced by 10s. and did not suspect the possibility of a spirit tax. which it is stated by the Chancellor is required to finance an ambitious rating relief scheme.
