MISS BARKER’S DANCING STUDIO “The physical effect of dancing cannot be equalled by any other form
of exercise for it scientifically uses pvery part of the body. I increases the power of the muscles, the suppleness of the joints, and the elasticity and strength of the human frame generally,” reads the prospectus issued by Miss Viola Barker, who has been ciosely identified with the progress of operatic, character, classical, national ballroom dancing and deportment in Marton for a number of years. Miss Barker has had erected a most commodious and artistic studio at Harris’ Shed, the floor being perfectly finished and of heart of matai, electrically lighted and heated. In addition there are rooms for junior and senior pupils, and a kitchenette fully equipped for pupils and private parties. Miss Barker will bo pleased to forward a prospectus on application. PERSONAL. Mr and Mrs F. L. Young have disposed of their property in Marton and are leaving to take up residence in Otaki. MUNICIPAL PICTURES. ‘‘Rolled Stockings” takes place for the most part in and around the campus of a well-known Californian university. The pep, enthusiasm and life usually connected with collegians is there. An exciting, boat race provides a big kick at the finish. Pretty eo-cds and handsome under-grads run riot throughout the story, and advance reports tell us that those who enjoyed the initial ‘‘youth” comedy will go into raptures over ‘‘Rolled StockStockings.” The Paramount Junior Stars—James Hall, Louise Brooks, Richard Arlen and Nancy Phillips—arc featured. El Brendel provides liberal portions of comic relief. Don’t fail to see this scream of a picture at the Marton Town Hall to-night. On Thursday next (special night) Mario Corelli’s famous story ‘‘The Sorrows of Satin,” featuring Adolphe Mcnjou, will bo shown at ordinary prices.
