TUBE CARE

AN EXPERT’S HINTS AN ILLUSTRATION A tyre expert of the Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Co. Ltd., gives the following hints on tube conservation: —“Be sure to use the proper size of tube in the cover. If changing, or vice versa a cover from regular size to oversize the tube should also bp changed. Always use. a flap with a straight side cover except when it is used on a drop centre or well base rim. Never use a flap with a beaded edge tyre. Before fitting a new tube examine the lock nut at the base of the valve and tighten it if necessary. Rims should be kept free from rust and painted when necessary. Bent rims should be straightened. The inside of the cover should be kept clear from dirt and grit of any kind. Valve caps and dust caps should always bp kept well tightened. The safety of tyre equipment being of paramount importance to every n.otdrist, it is interesting to note rhe miraculous escape from death of Z. Forest in his recent attempt, to estab ]ish new motoring records in his oneton car on Pendine tSands. Despite the fact that the car skidded, rose high in the air. then turned oxer crashed broadside into a flagstaff, rose high in the air then turned over on its side and finally did a somersault, during which the near side rear secure unon their rims.
