A HAUNTED HOUSE AND A WILL

WHO MUKDERED THE ATTORNEY? Acclaimed by critics everywhere as the most mystifying drama of the age. The Universal production, “The Cat and the Canary.” with an all-featured cast, will open at the New Grand Theatre for a season of 5 nights. “The Cat and the Canary’’ is a screen adaptation of John Willard’s great stage success of the same name and was directed by Paul Lcni, famous European director, who recently went to America to produce pictures under the Universal banner. The story concerns six relatives, who go to a supposedly haunted house of a deceased uncle at the hour of midnight to hear his will read. The attorney, who reads the will is mysteriously murdered and suspicion in turn falls on each of the six principals. How the real murderer is finally detected is one of the most absorbing mystery talcs imaginable. Laura La Plante plays the starring role and is supported by an exceptionally strong cast, including Arthur Edmund Carew, Creighton Hale, Forrest Stanley, Gertrude Astor. Tully Marshall. George Siegmann, Flora Finch and Martha Mattox.
