Beautiful and interesting as thu whole river is, the part from the House boat down to Pipiriki is the best of all. The great walls close in, rising sheer from the water’s edge. Snipmounting them are stately hills, whose tree-crowned crests rise to kiss the heavens, and over all is spread a glol> ous mantle of vegetation. Such wealth of foliage, such harmonious blending of colours, such magnificence is displayed, the picture is a perfect scenic masterpiece.
