A BREAK FOR LIBERTY
PRISONER ESCAPES SEARCHERS SO FAR ELUDED A prisoner named Cullen made his escape on Wednesday evening from the Woodville sub-prisoa camp at National Park and so far an extensive search has failed to locate .him. Air Glynn, officer in charge, and Constable Sherman of Raurimu, with two warders from the camp, took up the chase as soon as he was found to be missing and spent Wednesday night in the dense bush but without success. Apparently the fugitive made from the Woodville camp to t.he main camp* at Erua, us Warder Andrews’ residence there was broken into and his clothes taken. In their place was found the prison garb Cullen was wearing when he escaped. At a late hour last night the search had not been successful but Cullen's recapture is expected within 24 hours. He is believed to be making south.
