STEADY PRICES AND GOOD CLEARANCES.
Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co., Ltd., report a yarding slightly in excess of advertised numbers. The sheep section consisted of mostly wethers, of which some very good lines were offered and on which competition was quite keen; passings were fairly heavy in the cattle section, vendors’ expectations of realisations being above buyers’ limits, but a good clearance was effected privately. The sale throughout was on a par with recent sales and very satisfac- i tory from the vendors’ viewpoint. Prices were as follows: —M.A. wethers, mostly 6-tooth, 24s 4d to 24s 6d; 2 and 4-tooth wethers, 22s Bd, 23s 6d, 24s to 24s lOd; fat aad forward ewes, 14s to 18s sd; cull ewes Bs, Ils to Ils 7d; s.m. ewes 19s 6d; medium m.s. lambs 16s; medium wether lambs, Ils 2d to 12s 6d; medium ewe lambs, 10s 9d to 17s 9d; cull lambs Bs, 9s 6d, 9s ’ lOd; aged Romney rams, 32s to 365. | Cattle. —Light fat cows and heifers, £6, £6 9s to £6 10s; forward cows (second qualtiy) £4 6s to £4 10s; rising 2-year Hereford heifers, £4 3s; rising 2-year Hereford steers, £5; rough steers £4 4s to £4 10s; m.s.
