Sir, —Mr J. Belcher in his letter of Alareh, makes reference to the date of' the removal of the tolls for crossing tho Wanganui Town Bridge in 1875. The date he gives is not the correct one.

and for the information of your road-! ers, I wish to give the following extracts from the Alinutes of the Council, from which it is clear that the tolls wore removed about the end of Alareh 1883, Alinutes of Afeeting of Council—February 13, 1883.—“ That this Council approve of the proposals made by the Harbour Board for freeing the Wanganui Bridge from tolls, and agree ta an annual contribution from thoii funds to making good one-third of the loss, viz., £236 6s Bd. the Board will thorebv sustain.”
