SHOOTING
THE DEFENCE CLUB TROPHY MATCHES. On Saturday the Wanganui Defence Rifle Club fired their third shoot for the J- Williams, jeweller, A. Alanguson, and L. Garner trophies. Heavy showers fell during the shooting which made accuracy out of the question. The best score off the rifle was put on by G. E. Carde. There is now one shoot to go for these trophies at 500 and 600yds. The leaders in the aggregate (all counting) are Carde 196, King 188, Hamilton 187, Hudson 186. Holmes and Putt 185. Saturday's shooting at 300 and 500 yards with handicap resulted as follows: — G E. Carde, 33 33. handicap 2. total 6S; G. Putt. 28. 32, 4. 64; W. Hutchins. 29. 30. 5. 64; K. Hughes, 28, 31, 3, 62; B.
