A Alaori named Tom Rangi, aged 50, was killed when the sledge he was driving capsized at Alakarika, near Waipiro Bay, states a Gisborne message. Rangi was caught in the running gear, breaking his neck. A Taumarunui message states Hint at the inquest at Alaugakara, near Ohura, concerning the death of Robert Peter Humphrey, aged nineteen, who was killed by a tree ho was chopping, falling on him, a vcnSict of accidental death was returned.
A Taihape message states that it was discovered on Alonday that the post office attached to the railway at Waiouru had been entered and an endorsed cheque for £2 9s 3d, and cash to the ‘amount of £2 stolen. Entrance was made through an unlocked window. There is no clue.
