LOCAL AGENTS’ ADVICE. Messrs Millward and Co. advise: The Storm is expected Wanganui on 21 th inst. from southern ports and Picton. The Gale and Breeze are at present on their way south. The Cowden Law is due at Wanganui about the end of April from Galveston, Texas, via Auckland, Lyttelton and New Plymouth. Messrs Holm and Co. advise: — The Holmdale is due here to-day; sails . again for Wellington and southern ports. The John sailed yesterday for New Plymouth ; due here again on April 3. Messrs Johnston and Co. report:— The Hauturu leaves Onehunga March 29; due here March 31. The Kapuni arrived yesterday from Wellington with transhipments ex Port Adelaide, Piako and Ikala. GENERAL NEWS. REMUERA S LOADING PORTS. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Remuera is to commence loading at Napier and will afterwards load also at Tokomaru Bay, Auckland and Wellington. The vessel is due at Wellington on April 23, and will sail finally from that port on April 28 for Southampton and London, via PanTHE HINEMOA. Advice received by Spedding, Limited, states the Government steamer Hinemoa left Niue Isuand last Tuesday on her return trip to Auckland. The vessel is due this afternoon, and is scheduled to sail at five o’clock to-morrow evening for Norfolk IhMAMILUS LEAVES COLON. Cabled news has been received by the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company that the Mamilius left Colon on March 17 for London, en route from Port Chalmers. The vessel sailed from there on February 22. NEW STEAMER KA INGO. The new steamer Kalingo built in Scotland for Messrs R. S. Lamb and Co. left Coff’s Harbour (New South Wales) on Wednesday for Auckland. The vessel, which reached Sydney on February 25 from Eng- ■ land .will be employed in the coal and timber 1 trade between Australian ports and New ■ Zealand. I NEW MOTOR SHIP MIRRABOOKA The Mirrabooka, one of two 9,000-ton motor ships built for the Transpacific Company, to trade between Sweden and Australia, arrived in Sydney on March 11 on her maiden voyage. She is not unlike the Bullaren and Tisnaren. of the same line, in is provided. Captain Sir James Charles, commodore of the Cunard fleet since 1921, and master of the Aquitania, is retiring. On the conclusion of the present voyage to Southampton, for ten years, and go on shore duty until he will relinquish the command he has held May when he will be relief captain until his retirement in August. Sir James will be succeeded on the Aquitania by Captain E. G. Diggle, master of the Mauretania, which holds the speed record of 3 days 23 hours for the Atlantic. Captain Samuel J. M'Neil will be master of the Mauretania. Captain Charles .born in England .went to sea in 1880, and spent his early years in 500-ton barques beating round Cape Horn.
