SEVERAL REQUESTS EXPENSIVE PETROL. [ Per Press Association. ] WELLINGTON, March 23. At the half-yearly meeting of the North Island Motor Union to-day it was decided that a deputation wait upon the Railway Department with a view to endeavouring to have all level crossings exposed to the utmost extent, and asking the Department to co-opci-ate with local bodies to hav c all obstructions removed in order to give greater visibility. A motion was carried “that in view of the fact that the Union has been approached by associations in respect to the price of petrol now charged in New Zealand, as compared with that charged in other countries, an endeavour be made to induce oil companies to re dure the price charged to consumers.”

It was decided to send a deputation to the Government asking that the penalty for the breach of converting a car to a person’s own use be made more severe.
