CUP MEETING WANGANUI’S I AUNG BIG EVENT What should prove to be one of the best sports meetings of the season will be held on Cook’s Gardens next Thursday evening, when the Wanganui Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club will hold their annual gathering, competing for club trophies. A line programme has been arranged including the following events: — 100 yards championship (Gifford) Marshall Cup), 440 yards championship (Empson Cup), 120 and 220 yards handicaps) Pi.dham Cup). 880 and one mile handicaps (Zinox Cup), 75 end 100 yards ladies’ handicap, half-mile A grade cycle, 1 mile B grade cycle, 2 mile open cycle and one. mile chib cycle. There will also be a handicap relay for club members —four 1 l ios against two men over a quarter mile. This is one of the best programmes arranged this season, and some very line racing should be witnessed. The club me. bers are out to make this event a greater success than their recent Jubilee meeting, when the Wellington club competed here.
