At Westfield yesterday there was a small yard-ing of both ox and eow beef which sold under keen competition, with prices better than last week. Sheep.—A small yardfng, prices being very firm, which was more noticeable as the sale progressed. BAETIHI EWE FAIR 1 Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd., report having held their annual Kactihi Ewe Fair on Friday, February 24. Five thousand ewes came forward and were offered, to a good attendance of buyers from outside districts. Welcome rain fell early in the morning which unfortunately prevented a number of Taranaki and Wanganui buyers attending. Without its com- ’ petition, however, the fair was a high I ly successful one, good ewes finding a ready sale at prices ruling elsewhere. ►Special trains were used in trucking the stock away, the last of seventyfive trucks leaving Kaetihi on ►Saturday morning.
