Mr G. Gladstone-Campbell, of Maryba’nk, has recovered from his recent operation.
Mrs Hinerangi Simons, of Northern Wairoa, Dominion'organises for the Maori department of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, is at present visiting Wanganui. During her stay 'here she will work in the interests of the Union among the Maoris of the West Coast.
Guests at Foster’s Hotel include Messrs H. E. Millard (Palmerston North), L. H. Labone, W. J. Wright, S. Wyne, and A. H. Cock (Wellington), Miss K. Cruiekshank < Masterton), Messrs T. Holland and C. Sharp (Auckland), A. E. Wade and E. Martin (Cambridge), and W. J. Sedgeley (Christchurch).
A large number of people in the Wanganui and Otago districts will learn with regret ot the death at Wanganui yesterday, of Mr James McLeod. The late Mr McLeod spent most of his life in Otago where he carried on farming operations. He came to Wanganui some eight years ago to take up t’ho management of the stock department m Messrs Levin and Co.’s local branch, but of later years he was in business on his own account as a stock agent. Of a breezy and cheerful disposition, Mr McLeod made a determined; fight against a lengthy illness ahd much sympathy will be extended to his widow.
